Medicare

With a referral from your GP, you can claim Medicare rebates on appointments with David Nowland because he is a psychologist.

I offer very reasonable rates for counselling. Concessions apply for Health Care Card holders and pensioners. For further details on pricing, please inquire when making your appointment.

Am I eligible to claim a rebate?

Medicare rebates are available for people with “an assessed mental disorder” that is being managed by a GP under a GP Mental Health Care Plan or through a psychiatrist assessment and management plan, or for treatment of a child, on direct referral from a psychiatrist or a paediatrician.

How do I obtain a referral?

To obtain the initial referral, you will usually need to make an extended appointment with your GP – so the GP has time to ask you questions and complete a Mental Health Care Plan for you.

With this referral you will be entitled to a Medicare rebate of 10 psychological therapy sessions per calendar year. After 6 sessions you will need to take a report that the psychologist prepares for you back to your GP, who will give you a referral for a further 4 Medicare funded sessions if you still require treatment.

How do I Claim the rebate?

You must bring your GP referral with you to your first appointment, in order to be eligible for a Medicare rebate. After paying your session fee, you can take your receipt to Medicare for a rebate

Booking an appointment is easy.

Appointments are available weekdays 9am to 8pm & Saturdays 8am to 11am.
I am registered to offer Medicare and private health insurance rebates.
